The “.eu” top-level domain was established 2005, bringing the benefits of the European single market into the age of eBusiness, providing new Internet space to European companies and citizens whilst promoting an EU internet identity.
A domain name is a simple way for a computer or network to be identified on the Internet. Rather than having numerical addresses that are difficult to remember, Internet users have domain names. The “.eu” TLD will be a Top Level Domain that complements existing national ccTLDs in the EU (e.g. “.fr” for France, “.be” for Belgium, “.pl” for Poland...).
The .eu Internet domain will create a truly European identity in cyberspace for EU Internet users.
